This week marks the District’s second year participating in College Application Week, a part of the American College Application Campaign. Led by the American Council on Education ever year, the goal of College Application Week is to provide every graduating high school senior the opportunity to apply to college, with a particular focus on helping first-generation students, low-income students, and students who may not otherwise apply. Providing dedicated time during the school year has been shown to help encourage students take the first step toward college.
District seniors will receive support to begin and complete their applications at more than ten participating high schools, the Office of Latino Affairs and Georgetown University’s Institute for College Preparation during the week. Additionally, site coordinators and volunteers will be on-hand with resources to guide students who have yet to decide if college is right for them.
If your child or student is considering college and needs assistance conquering the college application, we encourage you to seek support this week.
