Hunger doesn’t follow the school-year calendar for many children in the District of Columbia, so OSSE is encouraging educators and the community to let all hungry children, youth and parents in DC know that more than 100 local sites are now serving wholesome and nutritious meals while school is out. The DC Free Summer Meals Program provides meals and snacks to all youth 18 years old and younger who arrive on-site during the posted times, regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, family responsibilities, political affiliation, disability, source of income, or place of residence or business. No identification is required.
Spread the word and help OSSE reach the children who need healthy meals to keep them active, alert and prepared to return to the classroom in August.
